The Hales family got a special Christmas present this year, as eldest child Jade returned home after five weeks in hospital to spend the day with them.
The 17 year-old, from Chapel Way in Bedmond, had been in hospital recovering from injuries she suffered in a car crash on Sunday, November 18.But on Christmas Day she was allowed out of hospital for six hours to spend a special day at home with her family. Her father Paul said: "It was so nice having her home but afterwards she didn't want to go to back to hospital. But I suppose six hours is better than nothing.
"She ate all her Christmas dinner and demanded seconds which I just couldn't believe. Her strength is coming back to her."The trainee hairdresser has shown remarkable progress since suffering internal and external injuries in the crash on Bedmond Road - a notorious accident blackspot.
Mr Hales added: "She can stand up on her own and walk over 30 feet using a frame now, and her speech is completely back to normal. It might be that she'll come out of this without any permanent injuries which is just amazing."We are trying to get her back for New Year's Day and we're looking at about two weeks into the new year to get her home permanently."
